Alcatraz Page 1: Tips you need to know if you plan to visit Alcatraz on your vacation. This page includes how to buy tickets in advance, photos of trip to Alcatraz Island, and climbing the hill to the prison.

More favorite tourist sites
Coit Tower: This is a very good place to take panoramic photos of the city and see old murals from the 1930s.

Trail to Fort Mason: Along this trail you walk along the edge of the bay, and it is a short trip to Fort Mason. The trail is really called the Golden Gate Promenade.

Fort Mason: There are several museums, a live theater, and special events held here.


Bus Tour of North and West side of city
Exploratorium: The Exploratorium has over 650 hands-on science, art and human-perception exhibits.

Golden Gate Bridge and Fort Point: Find out how to get there by city transit, explore around the bridge, and take a tour through Fort Point.

My Blue Heaven (Buzz electric scooter): Find out where I went the first weekend I got my new Buzz electric scooter, includes pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Note: You can also take this trip by renting a bike near Pier 39's entrance. I also have information where you can buy the Solo electric scooter at a very low price, $259 and it includes free shipping.

Sutro Baths: The Sutro District is still a place for visitors out by the Pacific Ocean, even though it burned down to the ground years ago.

Cliff House, and Giant Camera: Take a break at the Cliff House, or see a Giant Camera.

Ocean Beach: The Pacific Ocean is not safe to swim in here, but find out what else you can do out by the ocean.

Golden Gate Park and Haight Street: Take a walk through the park, see most of the main attractions, and find out what is inside them.

Downtown San Francisco
SBC Park: Take a walk around the new ball park and catch a free glimpse of the baseball action. Formerly Pacific Bell Park.

BART: Bart opens new SFO Station at San Francisco International Airport on June 22, 2003.

Take a short trip across the bay to Oakland and back. BART means Bay Area Rapid Transit.

Nob Hill and California Street Cable Car: Take a ride on the California Street Cable Car to the top of Nob Hill and find out what is up there.

The Embarcadero: Find out about one of the places to get photos of the city, also includes the Ferry Building with a map of the bay, and the Bay Bridge.

Treasure Island: If you are here on a weekday, then you might want to take this one hour trip to the island.

Skyline Views of Downtown San Francisco: You can take great photos of Downtown San Francisco's skyline from the glass elevator's at the Westin St. Francis Hotel.

Trolley Car Tour: This is one way you can travel from downtown to Castro Street or Fishermans Wharf.

Castro Street: Find out what the Castro district is all about.

Arts and Entertainment
Yerba Buena Garden: This is where the Center For The Arts, Moscone Center Exhibition Hall, and the San Francisco Museum Of Modern Art are located.

Carrousel at Yerba Buena Garden: Formerly located at Ocean Beach, it has now been restored and placed under a glass dome in downtown San Francisco.

Yerba Buena Ice Rink: A professional size ice skating rink open to the public year round.

Sony Metreon Entertainment Complex: On Wednesday June 16, 1999 the new entertainment complex opened with the the worlds largest 3-D IMAX theater. It is located right next to Yerba Buena Gardens.

Yearly Parades
Chinese New Year Parade: The Chinese Parade from Market and Second Streets to Columbus Avenue beginning at 5:30 pm on a Saturday in Febuary, the world-famous Chinese New Year Parade starts. The parade moves from 2nd and Market Streets along Kearny to Columbus.

Carnival Parade: May - Carnival Festival occurs, on the last Sunday in May at 10am is when they have the Parade. It's a time of the year when people of all different cultures come together and celebrate.

Gay Parade: On the last Sunday morning in June at 10:30 a.m. the Parade begins down by the Embarcadero then travels along Market Street to the Civic Center. Shows you what to expect when you see the Gay Parade in San Francisco.

Bay to Breakers Race: One of the largest races in the world.

Fleet Week: October - When the Navy Fleet returns to its Home Port of San Francisco. Find out what happens during their return. Also contains link to Official Fleet Week Website.

Kristy Yamaguchi Ice Rink: November - January Kristy Yamaguchi Embarcadero Center Ice Rink is open, it is an outdoor rink.

Side Trips From San Francisco
Jack London Square: Find out what Jack London Square is like before you go there. To me it is a lot like the Fisherman's Wharf but they have some different things you will not find at the Wharf.

Six Flags Marine World

Six Flags Marine World is America's only combination wildlife park, oceanarium, and theme park! It is open March through October. They are closed during winter months.



Ferry to Six Flags Marine World: Find out where to get tickets in advance and how to get to the park by ferry, car, bus, and BART.>
Six Flags Marine World "Theme Park": This page shows some of the more popular rides at Six Flags, including the "ROAR" roller coaster.
